Calculi Mediterranei *

Work for Harp, Grand Piano, Marimba and pre-registered sounds

Duration: 8 Minutes

I thought of the sounds of the Mediterranean Sea: the lithophony of the Archipelago.

I pre-registered sounds of pebbles and split them in separate spatial fields through electronic treatment, thus creating the sound and time frame for the dialogue between the classical instruments: The Harp is a female instrument within the orchestra. Not only because of her looks but mainly because of the use of its capacity to produce harmonic sounds to enhance the sound of other monophonic instruments. I chose for the same ability the Grand piano and the Marimba, putting them in a dialogue, a female soliton of mutual empowerment. Like waves on pebbles.
